“Start where everybody else stops“
One of the many activities I feel passionate about lately is talking to successful businessmen, asking for their testimonials as part of my new book. Last week I met the chairman of a multinational company in the Packaging field. He started working at a very early age, as he also attended night school classes. He got his degree but gave up university for work to meet the economic needs of his family.
His past work experiences have been many and vary company roles. His employers really appreciated his engagement and his achievements on the fields. He was charged with more and more important and strategic jobs. Then he realized it was time to jump over and became a businessman himself. At first it was a Ltd. company but today it has become a joint stock company with a worldwide distribution with many branches and hundreds of employees. The question arises: Roberto, how did you make it?
I found a lot of life teachers fortunately, I decided to take the best from each one by working very hard.
I always gave more than I was asked, working as a storekeeper, as a multinational manager as hard as I do now as a businessman.
When you realize that results come where everybody else stops (you feel like a tired athlete, whose fatigue turns into pain and so exhausted you wish to stop): there, you just put some more heart, some more rationality to follow through, going over the limit.
This is possible only when we really believe in what we do and give all of ourselves to make it. Going over ourselves is always a winning match.
