“You just can’t stop”
“I can’t not working!” These were the words of a waitress in a restaurant in Turin, while she was gazing at me in the middle of a paralysis.
“I’ve been spending all summer working, so that my family can benefit from it, especially my children, I want them to attend solid school courses. I’ve grown tired, I’ve blown out. My body was growing tired by the day, but my mind boosted me to go on. One night, I feel asleep on my sofa with a terrible headache. The morning after the nightmare begun: half of my face, the left one, was completed paralyzed and my eye was almost blind. I could not believe it and I ran to the ER. They visited me immediately but the report was humiliating: because of the extreme fatigue, my body has failed, the nerves on my left side completely blocked. I wonder what would happen to me, and the answer was that with care and time I would heal in one year.. that was the answer.
I cannot rest at home without working, the next day I was already attending to tables the day after. ‘This look is no good for our customers’ they told me, but I can’t help it, I have no insurance and I’m the only breadwinner so I have to keep on working”.
Our body is always showing us our health status and it is due of the utmost respect, because it the shell in which we can live our life. Since we were children up to death, we owe respect to it. We must be aware of our total responsibility, with no excuses. The sooner we realize it, the better to act a change. If we lack any information, we can just retrieve it, we have tools for it and they are free. Take some time day by day and think of your health. Respect yourself also means loving and enjoying the people near you.
