“Be faithful to your values and you will be awarded with Success”.

Last week I spent the weekend with my family in one of our favourite seaside resorts.

At noon, we headed toward the town centre to eat in one of its historic restaurants. It has no advance booking, you just stand in line and wait. I realized that many of the restaurants along the street were half or totally empty. Even in the square where our favourite restaurant was, the other four nearby had very few customers. I enjoyed that, because I thought I wouldn’t have to wait for long. Instead, as I turned the corner there were more than one hundred people waiting outside. The rule is, once there you book your table but you have to stay there, otherwise you miss the reservation. You can wait in line from 15 minutes up to 1 hour, but nobody complains, because it is worthy!!

A question arises: why waiting for that one restaurant, while the others are half empty?

It’s hard to answer, or it is easy if you are the owner:

“We’ve been owning this place for three generations, always the same seat, town centre in this quiet place. Our dishes are still the same, always cooked with the best products. Our staff is down to earth, polite and cares for customers’ satisfaction. Inner and outer rooms are clean and laid down carefully. Prices are accessible because we don’t care earning too much on everything, but we want our customers to feel good, so that they may come back with their friends next time. Some citizens do come and eat at our restaurant during the week because our kitchen is better than theirs at home. Our values are always the same and we improve them service by service. Do you see that floor? It is about 100 years old, smoothed by the steps of our customers since the first day it has been opened. Adults here are the children of the past who still eat here and always will. Every day is history here, for us and for those who will come next. Values mean everything, and if you are faithful to them, success will come!”
